Development:
The S-38 was a development of S-36. The first prototype flew on June 25,
1928. The aircraft entered service in late 1938, and a total of 111 S-38
were built.
Modifications:
S-38A - the first production version
S-38B - "Wasp" SC1 engines
Service:
With Pan American Airways, Northwest Airways, American Airways, Western
Air Express.
