Date Of Death: September 23, 1921Barny de Romanet joined the army in October of 1913. After
serving in combat with cavalry and infantry regiments, he
transferred to the French Air Service in July of 1915. He received a
Pilot's Brevet in January 1916 and was assigned as a reconnaissance
pilot to C51. After training on single-seat fighters in February of
1917, Barny de Romanet was reassigned to N37 where he received the
Médaille Militaire for shooting down his first enemy aircraft.
Having been credited with ten victories by August 22, 1918, he
assumed command of Spa167 and remained with this Escadrille until
the end of the war.

"Elite pilot, as brilliant in pursuit aviation as he was in
reconnaissance. Has had numerous combats giving proof under all
circumstances of the highest military qualities. On May 3, 1917 he
attacked, over their lines, two enemy scouts and shot down one of
them. Already cited three times in orders." Médaille Militaire

"Elite officer, who received notice in the cavalry at the beginning
of the war by bold reconnaissances, then in observation aviation,
and finally in pursuit aviation where his brilliant qualities as a
pilot, his coolness, and his daring in combat are always cited as
examples. He inspires his patrols to attack enemy planes very
superior in number putting them to flight and flaming one of them.
Also, recently he shot down successively two German planes,
reporting therewith his 16th and 17th victories. Médaille Militaire
